Projects The Final Mix A couple weeks ago I was browsing some YouTube channels and noticed that I found a tool that not only compresses audio files, but also removes unwanted metadata and converts them to MP3 format, all at once. I immediately knew what I wanted to try with this tool, and it turned out to be Coub. I made a test project with a 10 minute audio file (instrumental track from Metal Gear Solid 2). I then trimmed it to 30 seconds, and merged with a 24 second clip of silent footage (from the airplane intro in Metal Gear Solid 2). After that, I added a soundtrack of my own (Airplane’s Theme from Metal Gear Solid 2 – remixed with EDM). Here’s what it looks like (click the image to open in a new window): You’ll notice some gaps in the original soundtrack. I think that it is due to the lack of available samples. The Premiere Pro Premiere Clip At the beginning of my journey into filmmaking, one of the tools that I used a lot was Adobe Premiere Pro. I remember back in the day when I bought a version of the Adobe Master Collection and a license for Adobe After Effects. That first year was the time when I started learning how to do a lot of things, including video editing. Back then, the only “easier” way to edit video was to open it up in After Effects and work on it in that program. In my mind, that was where the power of the editing tools came from. Although, it was a cool editing tool, I was always waiting for Premiere Pro to gain more functionality and be able to handle all the situations that after effects would make it handle without much effort. In other words, it would have much more features that would make me more likely to use it. I remember the days when we had no proper editing tools. I would often edit videos on my old Apple Macbook, and use the NLE tools from Apple and Final Cut Pro X. While Final Cut Pro X is a very powerful editing tool, it’s also hard to get people to use it.
